What are Venetian Blinds?
Aluminium Venetian Blinds also known as horizontal blinds or mini blinds are overlapping horizontal slats suspended from a colour co-ordinated headrail and supported by ladder braid for internal use.

Slat widths

Aluminium slats are available in 15mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm slat sizes. The standard venetian slat is 25mm and is available in all colours. We also offer a wide selection of aluminium coloured slats in 15mm, 35mm and 50mm slat sizes.. The wider the slat width the more light will filter into the room when the slats are in the open position. 

Dual Control Operation
Venetian Blinds are very easy to use and simply operate using cord controls to raise & lower the blind and a wand control to tilt and turn the slats. Tilting & turning the slats to the desired angle allows you to control the level of light filtering into the room

Cord controls to raise & lower the blind.
To raise the blind, pull the cord down until the blind reached the desired height. To lower the blind, pull the cord across the face of the blind to release the cord-lock and let the cord slide through your fingers. Slats should be in the open position when raising or lowering the blind

Wand control to operate the tilt & turn of the slats
Twist the wand to adjust the angle of the slats controlling the level of light filtering into the room

Control preferences
The controls for operating Venetian blinds can be specified to be manufactured on either the left or right side of the blind. If you find it easier to get to one side because of obstruction then you specify to have both controls on one side.

Measuring & allowances for Venetian blinds

We advise customers to read our how to measure venetian blinds page before ordering.

Measuring (centimeters)
• Decide on fitting position, Recess or Exact.
• Check how you will fix the blind (Top Fix / Face Fix)
• Look for any obstructions such as handles, dado rails, tiles
• Measure the width first and measure at least three points*
• Decide whether the width measurement is Exact or Recess
• Measure the drop in at least three positions across the window*
• Double check all your measurements in centimeters
• Take the smallest width and drop measurements
 

Allowances & deductions to Venetian blinds

• We 'DEDUCT 1cm' off the width for ''RECESS' specified blinds

• We make 'NO ADJUSTMENT' to 'EXACT' specified blinds

• We work to a tolerance of 4mm on venetian blinds

Installation
Venetian Blinds are simple to install and even easier to use. Universal swivel brackets are supplied as standard and can be either top fixed or face fixed into the wall or frame, once fitted the headrail simply clips onto them.  Extension brackets are also available for Venetian blinds to ensure the blind clears protruding handles when fitted. Hold-down brackets can also be purchased and are ideal for blinds fitted to doors.

Cleaning
Venetian Blinds are very easy to clean; this can be achieved by either using a dry duster a damp cloth or vacuum cleaner with a wall-cleaning attachment. If the blind becomes very dirty then you can wash it with soap and water. Care should be taken not to bend the slats when cleaning the blind.
